stick of butter, 2 cups oats, 1 cup brown sugar, 2 tablespoons flour, pinch of salt, cinnamon, nutmeg, cardamom, allspice, apple pie spice to taste.
Kneed the butter, sugar, and flour together, add salt and seasoning, then add oats. Mixture should be crumbly and slightly moist. It should clump together when you pick up a handfull and squeeze it.
You can add nuts, coconut, granola, dried fruit, etc... Just reduce the oatmeal in equal proportion to what you add in other dry ingredients.
Yummy.
I am making an apple and plum crumble but I need a tasty and crunchy topping for it any ideas ?
Granola would be good!

Bake for 8-10 minutes, or until lightly browned.
Cool slightly, then put on top of your favorite dessert.
Reply:mix some granola, brown sugar and butter together, crumble on top then bake, for something a bit less crunchy, mix oatmeal, brown sugar, cinnamon, and butter together
Reply:Easy- Works like a charm. Yellow cake mix %26amp; melted butter. Just enough butter to make cake mix lumpy. Spread on top %26amp; cook in oven at 350 until golden brown. Spice cake mix works well too (esp. with apple).
Reply:Granola and cinnamon
Reply:try oatmeal topping
2 cups oatmeal
1/4 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup (1 stick) melted margarine
mix together than pour in margarine and mix well
put on top and bake until brown
Reply:Take 1/2 cup of brown sugar, 1/2 cup of granulated sugar, 1/2 cup of flour, 1 cup of oats, and 1 stick of hard butter. Use a fork and blend it together until it is like little peas (or you can use a food processor on pulse). Then sprinkle it on the top. It will bubble nicely and have good flavor.
1/2 c white sugar
1/2 stick of salted butter
1/4 c of unsalted chopped walnuts or pecans

Do not melt the butter! Combine all ingredients and sprinkle on top of fruit mixture.
