What is the best color eyeshadow, eyeliner, and lipgloss for blue eyes?

I have blue eyes, a medium skin tone, and dark dark brown hair that basically looks like black. I usually wear a light purple eyeshadow with a plum eyeliner and black mascara. Also, a pink lipgloss. Also, I know you shouldn't match your eyeshadow to your clothes, but I don't think just any shadow would look good with a honey shirt with a brown hollister logo. It's a really nice shirt too, I just don't know what would go.

What is the best color eyeshadow, eyeliner, and lipgloss for blue eyes?
eyeshadow- go for smokey eyes, they'd look fabulous with a honey shirt.

eyeliner- brown or black.

lipgloss- simple clear with a pink glow
Reply:also a midnight blue looks good with blue eyes Report It
Reply:My eyes are green with a blue rim. When I wear purple or plum it makes my eyes look more green. If I want them to look more blue I use black or gray with a neutral color base, or shades of blue with a hint of brown or black liner. Also the lighter your lips the more your eyes stand out. Since you have beautiful blue eyes, I would stay neutral on the lip.
Reply:Yes I would wear a light icy purple eyeshadow maybe even baby blue would be nice. light black mascera, peachy lip gloss. and a good foundation. Good Luck
Reply:You have described my coloring to a tee, and what i do is at wal-mart go to the ALMAY and they have a chart for whatever color ur eyes are. They are so right the browns and beiges that i use really bri g out hte color. They have a set for bringing out color and for playing up color
Reply:i think you sould wear a brown/golden color of eye shadow. your eyeliner should be a dark brown and for mascara wear a color that matches your hair. lip gloss should be a darker shade of your natrual lip color.
Reply:Okay try a warm brown eyeshadow with black eyeliner and mascara with a plum pink and brown lip gloss.

Any suggestions to decorate a blank wall without using a painting?

I have a blank wall in family. The room is painted flat plum. I have a rather large behind loveseat that is blank. I need something funky to put on this wall to brighten it up. Don't want painting or mirror or clock...any suggestions?

Any suggestions to decorate a blank wall without using a painting?
Here is a great idea. (I'll tell you right off the bat, I'm no decorating guru). Go tour some new construction homes and get ideas from there. The home builders pay good money to the professional decorators to come in and decorate their model homes. Or if "funky" is what you are looking for. I have seen (in a commercial) a sculpture (if you want to call it that) of a fish , using music cd's of different colors slightly overlapping each other on the wall which made the fish look like it had scales. Doesn't have to be a fish, but you get the idea. Maybe there are some other items that can be recycled and painted or used in a different fashion to make your wall hanging an "original handmade work of art"! Good Luck!!!
Reply:Use a decorative wall paper according to your own preference. It can definitely beautify a plain wall in an instant! It brings out a creative style that could reflect a funky lifestyle...
Reply:How about a macrame wall hanging, a dream catcher, some wire sculpture (leaves and vines, music notes?), a shelf or two with candles, some decorative plates ?
Reply:Wallpaper is great stuff
Reply:Purple in a house? Is this a whorehouse?
Reply:tie dye it or paint your kids pics on it
Reply:- wall sculpture. You can either make one yourself or buy one. They're sculptures, only (almost) flat and intended to hang on walls.

- cloth. You can either hang a panel of cloth from the cieling down, or just a square of cloth you can frame in a nice frame. Tere are awesome textures o0ut there, I'm sure you will find one you like.

- you're own piece of art. You can take some baboo reeds and tie them up in a funky shape, you can make your own painting.

- a piece of old wood. Go to a junkyard and you will find old boards, some have a lot of character.
Reply:a pretty tapestry or cloth wall hanging would be nice.
Reply:How about those Wall Waterfalls? that be great huh?!
Reply:Hang a blanket or pretty rug, string a picture wire across and clip family photos, favorite art, post cards whatever, use different sizes and colors for variety. You could also consider a mosaic or other tile art as well as just randomly painting squares or stripes. Have a party and create a "Fame Wall" have everyone put hand prints on the wall and sign it. You could really go wild and have a local street artist graffiti it or line the wall with old record albums. There are so many options just decide on the look you want and go for it!
Reply:hang a small rug on the wall, or a curtain with a fun pattern
Reply:My friend cut pretty flowers out of shiny (single color) rapping paper. The color is a little darker than the wall.

She stuck them with tape and they looked amazing!!

Why do they put stickers on fruit?

Does anyone know why they put brand stickers on fruit? It ruins teh skin and then you wind up eating the stickum. Does anyone look for a specic brand of plum or nectarine?

Why do they put stickers on fruit?
depending on the supermarket you use, fruits and veggies may be pre-packed for you or loose, in which case you pick out your own and bag it. there are usually several varieties of the same fruit or veggie, and their prices vary. the stickers are on them, and if you notice, there are different codes on the particular varieties. some people would have no problem taking the higher price produce and telling the cashier it was the lower price. the cashier just has to look at the little annoying sticker and know what price to charge per pound.
Reply:some people loves orange but they prefer Sunkist brand instead of brand A so may b the company produce better oranges so, tat wat people want . it is jus like buying shoes u will prefer billabong to quiksilver(example)
Reply:to tell u what brand it is and when a cashier rings u up it tells the produce number incase they do not recognize the fruit
Reply:It's to let you know that someone inspected it and it is safe for consumption once leaving their site.
Reply:to let u know its fresh or not
Reply:I think people do
Reply:because the supermarket has a code system. the number on the sticker is the code for the cashier. sometimes, the sticker is to let the consumer know what company the fruit is from. example- sunkist will put a "sunkist" sticker on its oranges.
Reply:To show you where they came from....the grade; and yes, some people have favorite brands. The glue is harmless and washes right off.
Reply:Also to provide the scale price coding for the supermarket checkout person.
Reply:For the shippers and the graders, most people know SFA about the food they eat and the little numbered sticker tell them if it is an apple or an orange

sorry, check out clerkiettes and other minimum wage peoples, No Offence intended.
Reply:Well I work in a supermarket and I find the stickers very useful, because they help identify the spcific type of fruit (eg red delicious or jonagold apple) very quickly, and also they usually give the code of the fruit so I know what to put in the register, because they don't have barcodes.

An easy way to avoid eating part of the sticker is to remove it first, then give your fruit a quick rinse under cold water and then rub dry the skin with a tea towel. I find the ones with ridges work well to remove any bad stuff on the skin.

Hope this throws a little light!
Reply:I don't Know maybe because they ship a certain amount

and that's why there are numbers on the stickers. and that might be the reason there are stickers on fruit
Reply:Nobody really needs the peel anyway. So yea.. it's mostly of the brand..

Now.. I said nobody really needs the peel anyway.. but people eat it by apples.

Get a knife and scrape the blade against the peel of the apple.

You'll see white stuff on the blade. It's wax.. so the apple is shiny..

The peel won't really be affected cuz of the sticker since there's wax.. but yea..
Reply:they are made for special people thats wy they put "bananas'' on the spherical red fruit

  • What do three asterisks mean on a book page?

I've been reading the "Stephanie Plum" novels my Janet Evanovich. She puts random sets of three asterisks at the top or bottom of each page. What's that mean?

What do three asterisks mean on a book page?
I love stephanie plum books! they are great. The *** means she is jumping from one scene to another, like when she is at her apartment, then it takes her to her parent's house. Kinda like they do in movies. I'm in book 5 right now, my mom has all the books until 12, shes waiting until it comes out in softback, I'm gonna keep reading until then.
Reply:Some authors use *** to signify jumps from one place or thought in a chapter to another, such as in the first part of the chapter they hero is talking to his sidekick in the forest and then after a couple of paragraphs the chapter jumps to the heroine battling the villian on top of the mountain. They use the *** instead of starting a new chapter and also because they don't know where on the page this split is going to happen when it is printed by the publisher so the *** helps to make the split easier to see for the reader.
Reply:I have never read Evanovich so I can't say in her case but often footnotes will be symbolized by an asterisk. A footnote with 3 of them might signify that it's the third footnote of that particular page.
Reply:If the story changes in the middle of the page, there is a space so you can tell that a transition is happening in the story. The asterisks are put in if the transition occurs at the end of a page, so you don't read on and think that you are reading about the last character, for example, and become confused.

Im trying to identify a tree i saw recently?

i am in wisconsin and the leaves of this tree are now a rich red. overall it looks to me like a plum or pear tree, but i dont remember seeing any fruit on it. the leaves are heartshaped, hearty and glossy. several of them are planted in this quite new neighborhood so obviously its a tree that landscapers like to use. do you know what it could be?

Im trying to identify a tree i saw recently?
Sounds like a Bradford Pear. Very coomon landscaping tree. They're one of the first trees to get their leaves and they have pretty flowers in the spring. They have very little to no fruit.

However, they do require maintainence. They tend to be brittle, and the wide, full, leafy branches hold a lot of snow and catch a lot of wind. The branches tend to break near the trunk, so expect to lose a lot of big branches. This won't be a problem if you have them professionally trimmed every few years.
    Reply:Maybe a Maple

Reply:Alot of landscapers now use American Basswood aka american linden. The tree has beautiful white flowers in the spring and the leaves are heartshaped as you describe. Oaks and maples do not have heart shaped leaves. There is also an ornamental pear that many landscapers are now using. You might go to Greenwoodnursery.com for a description and picture of a bradford pear and an american linden.

Would a sheet set for a day bed work for a regular twin size bed? If not please explain why!?

The only sheets I can find in this particular color is for a day bed. So what's your input on this? Any Help you can give me is appreciated. The color is Plum Purple.

Would a sheet set for a day bed work for a regular twin size bed? If not please explain why!?
As far as length and width, yes ... the dimensions are the same for both a daybed and a regular twin bed ... both use the same-size mattress. Daybeds are designed to hold a standard twin mattress.

However ... height might be a problem. Mattresses come in different heights ... some are extra-deep. Some sheets are sold as "extra-deep" as well. If you already have the twin mattress, measure the height of it to see if it's "standard" (9") or higher. Some mattresses are several inches taller ... also, a "pillowtop" layer will effect height.

I imagine (this is just a guess, though) that daybed sheets would be sized for a mattress that is standard depth.
Reply:Hi Check the size of your daybed mattress as they do come in different sizes. A standard twin size is 39"wide x 75" long and is usually around 9" depth. The twin mattress size requires a fitted sheet that is 39”x 75”, a flat sheet that is 66” x 96” and a pillow sheet that is 20” x 26”. Hope this helps.

What color should I paint my walls to minimize my purple carpet?

I have a dusty purple plum carpet and I'm trying to sell my house, I was going to replace the carpet but it's in excellent condition so I was wondering what color I should use to paint the walls to minimize the purple. The walls are currently painted an off white with a touch of pink, and I want to keep them off white, but is there a color I can use to dull the purple and make it seem less... purpley?

I appreciate any help with this. Thanks so much. :D

What color should I paint my walls to minimize my purple carpet?
You should play around with the Sherwin Williams color visualizer. It is the best paint visualizer on the web, imho. I like how their color palette is laid out, I like that you can search by color family %26amp; color name, the "painted" rooms look the most realistic, and it suggests coordinating color schemes. You can literally spend hours:

    http://sherlink.sherwin.com/swapp/color_...

Based on your situation, I suggest a color called "Windsor Greige."
Reply:A beige or a light light sandy brown color. It'll make it seem more light. If you're selling your home also I suggest playing light relaxing music when people come to look at it, keep it in tip top cleaning shape, turn on a fireplace if you have one, and put away all clutter.
Reply:If your seriously trying to sell your house, then the purple carpet has to go. Keep rooms %26amp; carpets neutral colors. Beige/tans for carpets or if you have decent wood floors underneath, place throw rugs down. Keep walls light. The idea is for potential buyers to see how they would like to decorate it which is easier with light colors, as it makes it more bright, airy %26amp; appear bigger.

Put clutter, knicknacks, etc. away, as these things can ve distracting. You want to basically give them a clean canvas to which they can envision how they want there belongings to appear.

Bring your purple carpet with you to your new home. Good Luck!
Reply:Purple is a cool colour. It is complementary to yellow. Using anything yellowish will accent the purple. Using a cool colour will make the purple seem less obvious. I would go with a light grey colour, towards the blue side. That combination will look spacious and calming. I had light grey on my walls for years and found it very easy to live with. If you really must use an off-white, make it a cool off-white.
Reply:make sure you use a color with no green in it, that will enhance the purple. I would use

    http://www.myperfectcolor.com/Benjamin-M...

but try a tester first to make sure. you can get it at MPC
Reply:Not sure what shade of purple, but since you feel it's a bit overpowering, a creamy beige wall would be a nice offset and tone it down a bit. You may want to consider some area rugs (that you can later take with you) which will coordinate well with purple and cover some of the area. Not sure which room the carpet is in, but If it's throughout the home, then just changing the wall color to a beige should help.

    Good Luck!
Reply:You can do beige, but if your feeling daring, you could do yellow!

What is a good accent wall color for a pale yellow living room/hallway in a house?

I am currently in the process of priming my house. I have decided to go with a pale yellow color for the living room/hallway areas. The kitchen is next to the living room but has some walls to separate the two rooms making it not a completely open floor plan. I have decided to use a sage green color in the kitchen. There is one wall in the living room where the fireplace sits with wall space on both sides of the fireplace. I am thinking of making this an accent wall. The floors are all hardwood and the cabinets in kitchen are medium oak colored. I want the kitchen and living room colors to fit together and I think that the yellow and green work well with each other. The house does not let in that much sunlight b/c there are big trees in the front and back so there is shade. What color do you think I should use for my accent wall? I was thinking maybe a medium/dark red, plum, orange, or taupe.

What is a good accent wall color for a pale yellow living room/hallway in a house?
navy... plum.... maroon....browns... soothing or traditional colors... more pop... then red/burnt oranges..

if u'r making the wall next to the fireplace.. make sure these colors will also go W/ the fireplace %26amp; don't clash. U can always paint u'r fireplace if u don't like OR spice it up w a glaze over the brick.
Reply:I like burgundy, but I'm not sure how that would look with the sage green. I like yellow - gold walls with hardwood floors, and Oriental rugs (in the tan and burgundy shades) with dark tan furniture, and Burgundy accents with stuff like old world globe accents, and an antique chess set on my coffee table. Bookcases with lots of books. I'm into the earth tones.
Reply:as you probly already know, it's a superb idea to paint on large practice boards first. "secluded beach" is a nice orange that won't compete with the yellow. it will also go good with the green. the maker is benjamin moore. "gobi desert" is a nice taupe with a hint of plum. "homespun charm" is a very earthy plum and not garish. as for red, my personal thing is to opt for large red artwork or red things instead of red paint but that's just me
Reply:Go to www.sherwin-williams.com and click on homeowner. Then click on launch color visualizer. Click interior and pick a living room. You can try out different color combinations and see what you like the best.

  • How do I go from fading red hair to my natural colour?

I have spent years dyeing my (naturally mousey blond) hair quite dark shades of red (mahogany, and plum). I decided some months ago that enough was enough and got the red hair covered with a medium brown, plus some highlights to help blend my lighter natural hair as it grew at the root. My regrowth is a couple of inches long now, and I still have some traces of auburn-ish hair throughout, especially at the ends of my hair.

Is it possible to cover up this haircolour once and for all with a natural shade? Will it take the colour, or would I have to lighten all over first?

How do I go from fading red hair to my natural colour?
Wait until your hair grows out enough to get all those ends cut off and still be able to style it to your liking.

In the meantime you should try temporary rinses that will match the ENDS of your hair. The darker ends will NOT accept a light temporary color.

That way your hair will be a bit more uniform in color, until you get a haircut.
Reply:there is a product the will strip your hair of all colour you can get it at a hairdressing wholesalers.

then you can start again and put what ever colour you like in
Reply:You can go to 5 different salons and get 5 different answers. your best bet is to trim off the ends to minimalize the red as much as possible. Or you can just keep highlighting the red little by little until it is gone. I go to Sally's beauty supplies, they have products that washout after about 6 shappoos, this way you don't have a permanant commitment. I love it.

In eastern Tenn. will fruit & nut orchard trees (apple, pear, plum) grow well inelevations over 3,500 ft?

I'd like to know if there is a place in Tenn. that lends its self to growing fruit and nuts?

In eastern Tenn. will fruit %26amp; nut orchard trees (apple, pear, plum) grow well inelevations over 3,500 ft?
I really doubt it, I think the weather would be a bit harsh in the mountains, especially in the winter, the soil is probably too thin and poor, and it's overly drained, especially at that elevation. Most fruit and nut trees require good drainage, but not mountainside drainage, mild winters, and good soil. But check with a local nursery, they might be able to find something that would work where you're at.

i don't know but may i give you a tip on something else....before you go swimming put some conditioner on it...leave in, rinse out, it dosn't matter but if you get clorine buildup in your hair it eats at it and makes it messy and matts a lot....(i used to have a lot of problems with that cause i'm a lifeguard) so condition it before you swim :-)

What can I use in place of reccurrant jelly?

I have a recipie that needs some redcurrent jelly and I can not get any where I live, any suggestions what I could use instead - maybe a mixture of cranberrie sauce and plum jam?

    Thanks in advance.

What can I use in place of reccurrant jelly?
Do you have a safeway/woolworths local to you? I know they sell redcurrant jelly at most of their stores. It will be with the imported/specialty jams. If not try using blackcurrant jelly/jam. Very similar flavour and a fine substitute as long as you don't need it to be red. If you need red you could always strain some raspberry jam to remove any seeds and pulpy bits.
    Reply:blackcurrant jam is the closest

    Try buyin frozen red currants,

    Defrost them,

    Put into pot with sugar,

Bring to the boil then allow to reduce till thick.

    Beautiful jelly/jam

    Hope that helps
Reply:I would think the cranberry sauce would work better than the plum.
Reply:the red current jelly isnt so much for the taste, but for the texture. see if you can find apple jelly, consistency is the same and the taste will not be effected

How long do I have to wait to dye my hair after bleaching?

My hairdresser has bleached my hair a horrible gingery-blonde colour from brown. She bleached it so I could dye over it a plum colour. Now she says I have to wait 2 weeks but I can't go out with my hair this colour I HATE IT. I know someone who works in Toni %26amp; Guy and constanly bleaches and dyes her hair so how long minimum do I have to wait. I've waited ages to dye my hair and want to do it asap.

How long do I have to wait to dye my hair after bleaching?
hey if you just want dye it a plum colour if you buy a semi you can do it now thats not a problem as long as it is a semi, coz a semi is just like a toner and has hardly any peroxide in plus they more conditioning and shiny. It will just fade quicker thats all so just buy two and then re do it in a couple of weeks
Reply:do it whenever just make sure yiu use a deep conditioner. the only bad thing is that bleach and dye strip oils from your hair. just use aussie 3 min miracle after you wash the dye out. try a med hue shade not a dark plum b/c it will come out real bright due to the bleach color in your hair already.
Reply:right as its gone tht lovely orange colour - it needs an ash toner on it to neutrilise the orange.

or try using a shampoo like matrix so silver - cos its purple in colour, when u use it, it puts ash tones bk into the hair to help get rid of any orangeness in the hair and helps enhance blonde or grey hair.

trick with having bleach on the hair is to keep doing conditioning treatments..use a reconstructing 1 it helps repair any hair damage.

also after shampooing and conditioning hair - usea leave in conditioner, helps add moisture and detangle hair.

and get ur hair cut every 4-6 weeks..

and last thing...where possible dont use hairdryer or straighteners on ur hair and if u do make sure u use a thermal protection spray.
Reply:You should wait at least two months because that's mixing chemicals and I know you don't want your hair to fall out. You should try cellophane. It"s okay to put cellophane in your hair because that's nothing but conditioner.
Reply:I have dark brown hair and have had my hair bleached several times in order to dye it another color. My stylist always dyed the hair right after bleaching, so I assume it's fine to just go ahead and do so. Just don't bleach your hair too often or else it will get brittle and lose shine.

well if its a white shirt you can use bleach if its anything else use oxy clean i use it always and it alwys works

Reply:* Any fruit stain can be easily removed by using a dilute solution of chlorine bleach (~1/2 to 1%).

Note:- use Oxygen bleach instead of chlorine for colored garment.

    * Spotting stains out:-

    - On a shirt try dabbing bleach soln on, then soak up using a dry towel.

    - Repeat until stain completely disappears.

    - Wash as normal then rinse with warm water.

    Chicken, lemon and herb

    Pork, cider and apple

    Duck and plum.

What types of food would you put with speciality sausages?
With lamb and mint I'd have cous cous.

With chicken, lemon and herb I'd have Crushed New potatos, shredded savoy cabbage and glazed carrots.

With pork, cider and apple, mash, roasted onions and peppers.

Janet evanovich writes stephanie plum books. does anyone know if film made?

after reading these stories one back cover suggested her first book had been made into a film.would love to see it but no luck so far.

Janet evanovich writes stephanie plum books. does anyone know if film made?
This is directly from the Evanovich website.

What's going on with the One For the Money movie?

Last we heard, nothing. They've been working on a script for several years now. Reese Witherspoon is attached to the project to play Stephanie. No other casting has been done. If anything exciting ever happens we'll be sure to post it on the site right away.

Who would Janet like to see cast in the movie?

Janet saw Miss Congeniality and loved Sandra Bullock. Thought she would make a great Stephanie. She also would like John Travolta to be in the movie. Not necessarily because he's right for a specific part, but she would really like to dance with him at the premiere party.
    Reply:I don’t know
Reply:havent seen any, but have read one of hers, she is very comical.
    Reply:no.

How do you feel about book adaptation to film?

I think it would be cool if some of my favorite book series were made into a tv series or a movie. So which book or book series do you think would make a good tv series/movie. My first choice would have to be the Stephanie Plum series by Janet Evanovich.

How do you feel about book adaptation to film?
I think some of them suck(Ella Enchanted) beacuse they leave out a lot of info and change the storyline, making them less accurate. I think the Anybodies by N.E. Bode, Dear Dumb Diary series by Jim Benton, the Cronus Chronicles, and the Sisters Grimm series would make great films/TV series. Hmm, maybe I should read the Stephanie Plum series too....
Reply:i'm a real sucker because i really don't like it when books are made into films because i feel like they always get it wrong! but i love to see what other people thought about the book and the imagination i couldn't comprehend unless i watched the movie %26gt;%26lt; i'd love to see...The Named series become movies! or Stravaganza or Tithe by Holly Black :)
Reply:books into films are never really good, in my opinion. the facts aways get messed up, and it never stays true to the book.
Reply:books rarely survive being turned in to film. example:

Ella Enchanted great book that was massacred in the film adaptation. they added in characters that shouldn't have been in there and changed the apperance of some characters. it was horrible. that's why i like Masterpiece theater and some BBC specials because when they take on books the specials remain true the book.
    Reply:i don't mind at times
Reply:As a writer (who does not have that particular talent), it's like magic when it works. Some books would transfer better or easier than others, but I think it takes a special gift to do it well. Personally, I'd like to see Nora Roberts' (writing as Robb) futuristic detective novels on film. It would make a great TV series, too.
Reply:It really depends on how well they do it. As stated before, they totally changed Ella Enchanted (even the lovely Hugh Dancy couldn't save it) to an awful farce. But the A%26amp;E version of Pride %26amp; Prejudice (with Colin Firth) was quite true to the book, and the actors managed to convey feelings that were described in long passages by mere expressions and glances.

I'd like to see Thomas Hardy's Mayor of Casterbridge turned into a movie. I felt really bad for Henchard!
Reply:The Vampire Chronicles would be a great TV series. The movie for Interview With the Vampire was great, but a show would be even better, with the viewers following the Lestat's steps as he tries his best to be human in his eternal damned life, while meeting lovers, friends, and allies, along with enemies.

The Iliad, Greek Version, was a series of books, and making it into a TV series would be pretty cool. Unlike Troy, where it was just an inspiration; but a show where the everyone of the main characters can make an appearance; like the Greek gods and Priam's many children.
Reply:I don't mind it I mean I always always read the book first sometimes just because its becoming a movie but that way you can see the book on screen and just have fun and laugh about wat they mess up then explain it to the non reading friends and all.

  • What else do you put on your peanut butter sandwich?

Jelly? Jam? Preserves? Fruit spread? If so, what FLAVOR?

Nutella? Mayo? Wheat Germ? Fresh fruit? Nothing? Marshmallow Fluff?

I like blackberry preserves or plum jam, myself, and also like peanut butter on hamburgers.

What else do you put on your peanut butter sandwich?
When I was little my mother made me eat a peanut butter sandwich that had chocolate chips on it. It tasted terrible to me. Another time she put bananas on it and I hated that too. The funny thing is I like reeses peanut butter cups and I like dipping a banana in peanut butter but what made me hate the sandwiches was the bread ruined the taste.

I prefer simpler tastes like jam on it, or honey.

I used to dip apple slices in peanut butter and that was good.

My favorite though is a butter-peanut butter sandwich (real butter). Unfortunately peanuts were not meant for human consumption and are hard to digest so now as I am older I noticed it causes me indigestion.

How do i keep worms out of my fruit?

every year our plum tree has worms in the fruit; how can i resovle this problem?

How do i keep worms out of my fruit?
Spray the trees with approved fruit tree bug spray. It depends on what type of fruit worms you have, and where you are located. Apple maggot is a very destructive pest that is quite widespread in the US. To help control it, clean up all leaves and fruit every fall and destroy the infected pieces. The life cycle of the fruit fly is found on line and the treatments from several authorities.

Also call your local county agriculture agent if in the US.

I have a plum tree that I planted 4 years ago. It's flowering for the first time this spring. Does this mean that it is going to bear fruit?

If a tree flowers, does it mean it is going to bear fruit?
yes it should bear this year-might be few due to still being immature-watch for birds and bugs they love plums
Reply:if it is a tree that bears fruit then yes. bradford pears flower yearly and dont fruit, but apples also flower yearly and make fruit..

so you may have fruit this year
Reply:Yes all it needs now is to be polinated by a bee or something to be able to produce fruits.

What is the best type of meat to eat when on a diet?

Is duck bad for you with plum sauce if so why? What about fish? and red meats. What meat should i stick to for my diet for fitness and weight loss.

What is the best type of meat to eat when on a diet?
    Types of lean meat.
Reply:People say fish and fowl because they are leaner, but in all honesty, any low-fat meat cut will do. Feel free to throw some red meat on the BBQ. Unless they're cheap, awful cuts full of fat (the white parts, not the bone) the ammount of protein you get out of it, more than makes up for the 5-10% of fat usually found in say, beef.

When working out or dieting, clean meat of any sort is excellent. Hamburgers, saucages and most minced meats however, have lots of fat added to them, so I would recommend finding the "pure" varieties of these, or making them yourself.
Reply:red meats have a very high fat content, so should try and be avoided. duck and other water-birds are also very fatty because they need that extra fat to insulate them in the water. if you really want meat, you can try getting leaner meats, usually it will say on the packet, and eat chicken rather than pork.

overall, it is best to eat fish. fish is extremely healthy and has an extremely low fat content. if you really miss a bit of meat, eat tuna steak. its really healthy for you, and tuna is often called 'the beef of the sea'! my mouth is watering just thinking about it =D. i lost a whole lot of weight when i cut out the fattening meats and ate fish instead!

also, when choosing how to cook your meats/fish, avoid cooking them in oil such as frying. grilling is a better because cooking in oil just adds to the fat content

hope this helps, remember grilling fish is the key

    x
Reply:Fish and lean white meats like chicken breast or turkey. Steer clear or red meat (duck included, and plum sauce will be full of sugar, which you should avoid). Make sure that your meat portion is never bigger than the palm of your hand or the size of a pack of playing cards and load up on vegetables (especially dark green ones) with every meal.
Reply:if ur on a diet to loose weight, then its best not to eat ANY meat at all!

if u want to, then turkey is good, as is fish, not red meat.

most sauces are bad, unless they are plain tomatoey type sauces, not shop bought or sticky thick sauces as they tend to have extra sugars or fats and so bump up the calories
Reply:Oily fish is good, as it contains good fats... Chicken is great too...

Any lean red meat is fine - or you could buy that George Foreman thing... the Lean Mean Fat-Reducing Grilling Machine or whatever it's called - and then you won't need to worry so much about what you eat, because the damn thing sorts it out for you!
Reply:Duck is the fattiest meat around - if should definitely steer clear of this if you're on a diet. The best meats you can eat are lean chicken and fish, best cooked grilled. Once a week you can 'treat' yourself to red meat, but it shouldn't be a staple part of your diet.
Reply:Really its about doing without red meat. Chicken, turkey, duck most of the game birds. Be a bit careful when it comes to sauces, fat is the enemy.
    Reply:Hi

Duck is a very fatty meat unfortunately, fish is good for a diet, and white meat is better than coloured meats diet wise.

Good luck with the diet. x
Reply:Fish and chicken are the best.

Duck with plum sauce isn't healthy (full of calories)

Basically you can any type of lean meat, including steaks as long as the fat is trimmed off.
Reply:lean red meat is okay. But chicken, turkey and fish are really good for you.
Reply:duck is a very rich fatty meat, you would be much better off eating chicken its a lot less fat.
    Reply:Boiled (yes boiled) chicken breast.
Reply:You should eat chicken and fish only when your on a diet!
Reply:Chicken and brown rice. Works every time.
Reply:stop red meat %26amp; pig meat.
Reply:lean meats like chicken, turkey and fish

How would you go about rebuilding your credit?

My credit is plum awful. I want to rebuild it. Does anyone know how to go about this?

How would you go about rebuilding your credit?
I am sorry to hear that you are in the sistuation that you are in . I was in the same place bills kept comming in and the interest rates were killing me . if you still owe money this is what you should do .

    1. go to http://freecreditcardsforyou.com and get a 0% transfer rate for like 12 months. Once you get the card CUT IT UP . that way when you make a payment you are just paying down the total and not a huge interest rate.

if you have no debt and want to get your credit up again quick go to http://freecreditcardsforyou.com and get a guarenteed credit card. one trick that i have found to get my credit back to where it should be . Get the new credit card and just use it for gas and food and pay off the bill every month . or if you can send in 40 dollars more then your bill each month . It will show that you can be trusted again and your score will go up
    Reply:To Repair credit score

Your credit score is based mostly on:

    1. Length of credit history

    2. Payment history.

    3. Ratio of credit used to available credit.

    4. Number of credit inquiries you authorized.

If you cancel your card, you'll be hurting your credit ratio. (#3).

You want to deliberately keep your oldest credit card open, even if you never use it.

You want to always pay the minimums of each loan on time every month.

You want to keep your available credit high, but actually only have balances equalinig 25% or less.

You want to keep your credit inquiries to a minimum. Try for no more than 3 or 4 per year for any type of loans.

You do these things and your credit score will quickly soar into the 700s.

Reply:Sorry to hear about your situation. I would like to offer words of encouragement that it can be fixed if you really set your heart and mind on fixing it. For starters, contact the financial institutions where you got your debt from and make a payment arrangement. If they have already referred your debt to a collection agency then make efforts to contact them. Once you get a hold of them, make arrangements to pay back your debt. Most of them will do this with you. They will give you an amount to pay and a date for paying it by. Then you make sure you stick to it. If you can't pay up for whatever reason contact them and tell them you are struggling. Contrary to popular belief, these agencies are not against you. They are there to collect debts. If they know you are serious about paying back your debt then you can get out of the debt hole. But, like I said, you need to make the resolve to do it and then stick to the payment arrangements. You will then start seeing your debt shrink rather than snowball. The time it takes to pay it all off depends on how little or big your debt is. The smaller the debt, the faster it will disappear. The larger the debt, the longer it takes to pay it off. Getting out of debt is not impossible, but you have to be smart about where your money is going. It feels really good to pay it all off and managing your debt is one of the best things you can do for yourself. Good luck!!!
Reply:You rebuild credit the same way you build credit.

You have to borrow money and make payments on time. It's a stupid plan if you want to win with money.

You have to borrow money and make payments on time to get a high fico score so that you can go out and borrow more money and make more payments. You also, have to keep borrowing money and keep making payments on time. All you will get is debt.

If you pay as you go.

If you live on less money than you make.

You will not have to obsess with the fico score and you will have money.

The only time that you might have to borrow money is for a home. You can do that without a fico score. It's called manual underwriting. It's not a sub prime loan. It's the way home loans were givin' before all the fico score worship. You can get the lowest interest rates available.

I have approved the above credit line for my clients, amazing for rebuilding and establishing new credit.

Also recommended by all leading credit experts, including Edward Jamison (as mentioned on his NBC show starting over)

Reply:It depends on how awful it is. If it's not extremely bad (score below 580) try getting a credit card from First Premier Bank. They offer a 9.9% fixed interest rate. The down side is the initial fees they charge. You might get a $200 limit. By the time you get the card, they attach a processing fee, activation fee, etc., leaving an available credit use of aroud $75. You need to decide if that is worth the price of re-establishing your credit. Next, after getting a card, you need to make at least the minimum payment on time, EVERY MONTH. After about 6 months, you might qualify for a better card with better terms. Don't apply for a lot of credit during a short amount of time. Each time you apply, your score drops a few points. Don't bother with store credit cards, get a Master Card or Visa, they can be used almost anywhere, even your favorite store. It took awhile to get into this credit mess, it will take awhile to get out of it.

  • How often do I water my trees?

I have 2 plum trees, A walnut tree and an apricot tree in my yard. I know how to take care of my vegetable garden, but I don't know how to take care of my trees. How often do I water them? The weather is hot in california during the day it is 95 to 100 degrees.

How often do I water my trees?
Do NOT water your trees every day. Mother Nature does not water anything for "twenty minutes a day" unless it is living in the forests of Costa Rica.

You should water trees deeply when you water them. To get water into the root zone, lay a garden hose at the base and turn the water on very very slowly, almost so slowly as to not even be on. Let the water trickle for several hours. You could make a moat or dirt dam to keep the water in place soaking in at the base of the trees, but if you are accumulating much water in a puddle, you are watering too fast. If the trees are really big and mature, you could use soakers or sprinklers to apply water to the whole area under the canopy, in that case, leave them run for a while but not so long as to have runoff.

Most trees can not take as much water as people seem to want to apply to lawn grasses to make them look green all summer and consequently drown their trees. New plantings with reduced root systems from transplanting might need a little water once a week or so until they get a root going and thereafter only during hot, dry droughty periods. Consider the weather conditions and adjust accordingly. If it has been raining for a week, don't turn on the water. If it has not rained in a month, it might be about time. If you are not sure, dig a little hole near the tree and check it out to see how dry or wet it is below the surface. The trees will tell you if they are in trouble by wilting, scorching, or dropping leaves. If the plant wilts and you water it and it stands back up, it needed water. If it is wilting and you water it and it does not stand back up, that may be a clear indication of too much water that is causing root damage. I am not suggesting you wait to water until your trees do any of the above, but really it is not much different than your vegetable garden other than in the matter of scale. How well drained is your soil? Sandy soils are free draining and tend to dry out, where the clay soils fine particles tend to stick together and stay wet longer -- then be hard as a rock when dry.

You can not overwater something with the volume of water you apply at one time but you can overwater with the frequency of application. The idea is to water significantly when you water -- a good soaking -- then let it dry out some, just like natural rainfall or good tomatoes. Remember that tree roots are just bigger and deeper. Your trees should handle the heat fine as long as they do not get too-too dry on a hot afternoon. It doesn't matter to the trees what time of day you apply the water but you may lose more water to evaporation in the heat of the day. I would think you probably have some experts in your area that could provide you with more information on responsible water use--try your local garden center?
    Reply:never
Reply:Water them every other day in the evening time when the temp has cooled down.
Reply:Only water the tree everyday if you want to kill it.

I guarantee you they will be dead in a few months if you water them every day.

Trees are VERY succeptable to root rot, which they get from being in soil that stays wet.

Trees planted ni the ground do not have to be watered at all unless they are specialty trees being grown in a drastically different climate than thier natural one.

Yes, you can water it once or twice a week, but it is not necessary. Unlike garden plants, trees have tap roots and long feeder roots that extend deep into the soil. So even if the top looks dry, they are fine.
Reply:water them at night when it is not so hot because its not good to water plants when its hot. and yea you can water them everyday if you want

Sarah Strohmeyer writes the Bubbles series which is on sort of the same line as Janet Evanovich. The Sookie Stackhouse series is wonderful by Charlaine Harris. It is preternatural, but funny as can be. If she wants to read more about Stephanie Plum there are thousands of fantastic Stephanie Plum fan fiction stories written. If she has access to a computer she could read for her entire last month and probably never finish them all.

Congratualtions on your new baby and I pray all goes well. My daughter just gave birth to my first grandchild 4 days ago. I am very blessed too. Good luck to you. Feel free to email me if you want direction to fanfic stories.

Wiki tells me Janet Evanovich isn't through yet, by a long shot, with books still to be read by your wife at this time.

She started a "Metro" series, with two books out now. They are:

    "Metro Girl" ('04)

    and

    "Motor Mouth" ('06)

She also started the "Full" series in collaboration with Charlotte Hughes. They are:

    "Full House" ('89)

    "Full Tilt" ('03)

If you can't find these at the library or bookstore, order them in, especially at the library. But I think you'll see them somewhere, even if you look at

I looked and they are there, some of the "Fulls" for a penny, other titles about 0.39 to maybe 4.00... like that. Just take a look... put books in the first search box and her name in the second.

How do you take a tree branch and clone/grow it?

My friend dropped off some plum tree branches to grow...the leaves are drying out. I have them in a pool of water, what should I do so that I can plant them?

How do you take a tree branch and clone/grow it?
if its branches you cant plaint them, will not grow with out root. you say clone, don't under stand what you mean. My grandfather was a peach farmer in ms. as a hobby he would cut a limb from a plumb are Any fruit tree then he would cut a limb of the same size off of a peach tree splint the plume limb onto the peach tree and it would bear fruit. if the leaves are dead the branch is dead, no bringing it back. The best time to do this is in the winter when the tree is dormant. Any transplanting planting does the best in lat winter early spring.
Reply:A branch cannot be grown. However you can get a rooting hormone solution and take a cutting from the tree and dip it in the solution then plant it,preferably in sand til it grows roots than keep moveng it to larger containers til big enough to plant outside.
Reply:they will not grow trash them

Is used charcoal good for fertilizer?

Someone told me I could use charcoal to fertilize my pear, plum, and peach trees. I wanted to know more info before I did this.

Is used charcoal good for fertilizer?
"The wide spread use of charcoal as a fertilizer media on which plant nutrients can be absorbed has a long history in Japan and Asia. Historical large-scale use of charcoal in the Amazon produced sustainable agriculture, which lasted for thousands of years until the arrival of Europeans. The renewal of this practice could offer substantial opportunities for long-term removal of the carbon from the atmospheric pool. New methods for charcoal manufacture allow the cost effective production of hydrogen, bio-oil and other co-products from agricultural, forestry, and waste biomass. Additionally charcoal holds out the promise of being able to scrub carbon dioxide, sulfur dioxide and nitrous oxide from fossil fuel exhaust while simultaneously producing a nitrogen enriched carbon fertilizer and fuel cell grade hydrogen. "

Short answer, yes, but in my experience it depends on what type of soil you currently have. If you have really dark black almost clay-like soil, I would say definitely. If it's really sandy soil, then dont bother.
Reply:NO. It's quite alkaline and can cause problems. It doesn't have a whole lot of nutrient value anyway.

  • How to go from dark brown to deep red without bleach?

Hey. My hair is naturally dark brown and i coloured it recently with a permenant cherry colour. It looks okay and it is noticeable but looks more like plum than my intended colour. I was considering going for a brighter shade of red but i do not wish to pre-lighten/bleach my hair. Any tips on how to get a deep red colour thats not to in your face and how to do it so my hair does not need to be bleached?

How to go from dark brown to deep red without bleach?
LET YOUR HAIR GROW PUT SOME THAT WAY THE COLOR U PUT ON WILL LIGHTIN UP AS THE DAYS GO BY AND AS YOU WASH YOUR HAIR AND THE SUN WILL LIGHTIN IT UP TO. THEN GO BUY THE KIT YOU WANT AND THEN DYE IT. THE CHERRY WILL MAKE YOUR HAIR A DEEP RED CAUSE IT IS ALREADY A DEEP BROWN. IF U GET A BURGENDY IT MIGHT TURN THE RED U WANT. BUT DO NOT GET TROPIC BURGENDY IS A DEEP DARK BURGENDY BUT IN THE SUN LIGHT IT HAS A PURPLE TINT TO IT. I HOPE MY ANSWER HELPS YOU.

What types of plants can i plant in my garden to attract rare bugs and animals?

i really want to see some beauitful rare bugs and birds and small animals but i dont know what to plant i have berrie bushes and a plum and crabapple trees but thats about it oh and i would like it if the plats grew year round and i live in winnnipeg manitoba

What types of plants can i plant in my garden to attract rare bugs and animals?
ok if you want to attract birds and rare bugs you need to get long big grass and a hudge pond probably at least 4x4 metre pond but if you do not want it do not plant it you should plant produce trees and plants not too mention look on google.......i mean yahoo and look up birds of what they are attracted too
Reply:It's not only the types of plants but also other garden features that will help attract wildlife. Add a water feature like a small pond or birdbath. You'll get dragonflies and bees and birds and maybe a lost little frog or two. Also try a pile of decomposing leaves or compost material to attract bugs and the things that eat the bugs. I'm in California and I get opposum (?) alot, coyotes (bad for the cats), hawks, an eagle once (that also killed a small cat in broad daylight), as well as a beautiful variety of song birds, hummingbirds, butterflies, dragonflies, june bugs, and other bugs that I don't like. (ie, grasshoppers!)

Does anyone have any information on growing fan shaped fruit trees?

I would like to plant them along a fence. What spacing would I need. Do I have to have two for cross pollination. I would like to have an apple, pear and Victoria plum. I have approx. 28ft.available.

Does anyone have any information on growing fan shaped fruit trees?
    Hi JoJo.

That's loads of space and you will probably have sufficient pollinators from neighbours trees if you live in a reasonably urban environment.

The RHS book of Pruning and Training is well worth a read. You can probably borrow it from the library. Also another book called The Fruit Garden Displayed is a bit of a classic and often found second hand in book shops for a couple of pounds (in the UK).

This link gives some advice as to training:

    http://www.rhs.org.uk/advice/profiles060...

Hope you get plenty of fruit in the future and hope the advice helped a bit.
    Reply:Do you mean espalier?

    http://www.ces.ncsu.edu/depts/hort/consu...
Reply:Victoria is self-fertile, and would make an excellent fan. Both apples and pears are more usually grown as espalliers, but there is no reason why they cannot be fan trained, and most varieties need a pollinator. If you only want, (or have room for), three trees, try getting two varieties grafted onto a single rootstock. By doing this you can also have both an "eater" and a "cooker", or extend your cropping season. Discuss your needs with a good nursery as you will need to buy ready trained trees as I'm guessing that you are new to this.

p.s. if you are in Jersey, contact me and I'll let you know a firm to avoid; they never deliver.
Reply:It is best to give your trees plenty of room so with 28ft i would plant them at 6ft to 8ft spacing. Use self fertile trees like Victoria plum, James grieves apple and conference pear. fan training is quite simple, plant your trees against a south facing wall, plant about 9 inch away from wall leaning in to it,

trees should be kept to about 6 or 7ft high, start with 2 branches trained at a 40 degree angle about 30cm above soil level, then train the branches about every 6inch onto horizontal wires. That's the basics, you would probably better to get a good gardening book and read up on the subject, its simple enough but you will learn more from a good book.

    Good luck

What color paint would compliment light yellow kitchen ceramic tile counter tops?

I'm thinking a dark plum color. I should also add that I have dark oak cabinets and 2 large windows. I also have dark oak paneling that I'm debating on removing or painting a cream color. HELP! :)

What color paint would compliment light yellow kitchen ceramic tile counter tops?
I would go with a light sage/celedon color. Or a seafoam. A really really light green basically.
Reply:I think the dark plum color is a good idea, but like someone else said, it's going to make it dark. I would suggest finding some paint to match the countertops and accent with it--either the backsplashes under the cabinets or any trim.
Reply:a light blue (like cornflower) would look great with yellow and would help to brighten up the room. A dark color would only make the paneling and cabinets look darker.
Reply:You obviously don't object to dark colors so why not a deep red?
Reply:A dark color will make the room look smaller. You already have the dark cabinets. How about a soft green or a creamy yellow. It sounds like it will clash, but it will look great with the dark cabinets. AS far as the paneling, PAINT IT....we painted our basement with KILZ paint. Now you can have it tinted colors.

    Good Luck!
Reply:i think a jade green would do or a light marble green

it will make the kitchen seem brighter
Reply:if you go with plum that is going to be a dark kitchen !! try a color named tuscan gold . I know because I have the same color tile. good luck.
Reply:I think that a plum color would be beautiful. Shades of purple are a very *now* trend in kitchen decor. If you do decide on the plum, I would mos def paint the paneling a lighter shade. Glidden has a cream color called "Indian Painting" that would look great.

How do I get rid of my purple hair?

I recently decided to change my hair colour from its natural coppery brown to a far darker shade of plum/purple. However the tone really is too dark for my very pale skin and as a result, I am desperate to undo what I did! I used Garnier Movida dye, which is semi-permanant (6 - 8 weeks). How do I either get my old colour back, or at least lighten/dull the effect of this one?

How do I get rid of my purple hair?
I have had a similar experience. I wanted to dy my hair from blonde to strawberry blonde, and it turned orange. You can go to any store and purchase a hair dy removal kit which is what I did, and it worked, or you could wash your hair ALOT other than that the only thing you really could do is wait for it to fade out itself. I recommend the dy removal kit, it works just like hair color, but opposite!
    Reply:re semi-dy it w/ color pulse.

you can have a bunch of diff. shades.

u can buy color pulse at target.
    Reply:Trim off the ends.
Reply:Ok...first off all of these people that are telling you to bleach it have NO idea what they are saying!!!!!!! Garnier is a metallic based color...any bleach or other color you put on your hair is going to react with the metallic base and grab orange and you are going to look really horrible. If its only a semi-permanent your best best if for repeated washings over the next few weeks (be sure to condition at the same time to prevent drying). However if you really cant stand it GO SEE A PROFESSIONAL! Its really going to cost some money but other than allowing it to wear off this is your best bet to keep your hair!
Reply:go to a salon next time. home dyes like Clairol, Garnier, etc are not professionally done. i'm sorry if u cant afford it but those look like %26amp;$#@ (cant swear on this website)
Reply:re dye it a diffrent color
Reply:Die it a different color! Choose a color that looks good on u!
Reply:use bleach on your hair or go see a hair specialist that can help u
Reply:wash it over and over and over, if it not a full permanant color then eventually it should lighten as you wash it. or you could go drastic and bleach it.
Reply:Get to a hairdresser asap. Anything further that YOU do, could ruin your hair.
Reply:6-8 weeks... hmm, just wash it out repeatedly with a harsh shampoo that will lighten it up. Or you could have done what I did, I dyed my hair to a darker brunette and got an ash black color and I just shaved my head out of horror.

What is a nice color (other than red) that works well for bathroom accessories like shower curtain, rug and other accents? I was thinking smokey amethyst or plum?

What colors work as accents for black and white tile bathroom?
If you like a Zen feeling, try using a soft aqua-tinged blue. It's very calming and will give you a nice look with the black and white.

Reply:AN ALL WHITE SHOWER CURTAIN AND A SOLID BLACK RUG WOULD LOOK NICE. I THINK ! !
Reply:Any color will work. Dark green, purple, blue would be wonderful. I would go with blue,. I have a blue bathroom and it is very tranquil!
    Reply:silver would be nice
Reply:I had a bathroom with black and white floor tiles. I painted the walls white and the trim black. For accents I bought a collection of cheap frames (5" X 7"), you can buy black frames, but I found a set of matching wooden frames that were pretty cheap so I bought them and painted them. I also bought some black and white cards, the ones with children dressed as adults. Some examples, a young boy kissing a little girl, a young boy handing the girl a flower, etc. . . Each picture had something of color in it, a yellow rose, a red bow tie, you get the picture. It was just enough color to give it some punch. It looked great. I also used lace in the room. I had black shelving with lace trimming the edge of each and a lace window curtain and shower curtain. I looked like a step back in time. I really loved it.

How can I stop my dinner talking to me?
It isn't etiquette to introduce oneself, either; so really you haven't had a proper introduction to either one of them. If you're still concerned, use a dessert spoon to eat the plum-pudding, as this avoids the proscription against cutting.

Janet Evanovich fans--who would you cast in a Stephanie Plum movie?

They're talking about making one with Sandra Bullock as Stephanie, and I like her or Reese Witherspoon.

I think Mo'nique would be a PERFECT Lula, Shirley Jones or Betty White as Grandma Mazur, Matthew McConaughey as Morelli, and "Warrick" from Vegas CSI as Ranger.

    What do you all think?

Janet Evanovich fans--who would you cast in a Stephanie Plum movie?
Sandra Bullock definetly as Stephanie Plum, Reese is a great actress but I don't think she physically meets stephanie's character. Matthew would be good as Morelli, I never thought of Brown (Warrick) from CSI as Ranger but he would be very good better than The Rock which I heard rumors of. I think for Grandma Mazur though I would love to see Estelle Getty, she played Sophia the oldest of the "Golden Girls" , she has a very sharp tongue and I think would fit perfect.

I would also love to see this movie out soon!!!
Reply:For Stephanie I would probably like either Amanda Peet, or Amelia Heinle, Morelli I like Josh Duhamel, or Tyler Christopher. Ranger I think Victor Webster, and Lula defenetly Monique. Some of these actors are unkown, so you might want to look them up to see their picture. Report It
Reply:I just finished her last book...he, hee! Grandma Mazur would have to be someone like Betty White how cute? I also agree with Stephanie Plum being Sandra Bullock but.....Morelli...never Matthew McConaughey (cute but not in my opinion) he would have to be harder and stronger, with a bit of sensivity more like Matt Damon or maybe even Sandra Bullock's next best friend...Keanu Reeves he would be great.
Reply:Oh please give me Julia Roberts in the lead! She knows when to let the humor roll , and when to play it with a straight face; that a good question, because for sure these books are coming to the big screen. And YES yes yes put Matthew McConaughey in a LOT of scenes :)
Reply:I would agree with all except Matthew McConaughey. Keanu Reeves would be good though. The books are great!
Reply:Sandra Bullock yes, Mo'nique perfect. As far as Ranger or Morelli I can't decide.

Which alcoholic drinks are drunk before a meal and which after?

In my family, people usually drink a small glass of plum brandy before lunch and a glass of wine after. What about all the other common alcoholic drinks such as whiskey, beer, liqueur, vodka etc? What's the etiquette for them?

Which alcoholic drinks are drunk before a meal and which after?
If you want to go with the traditional...if there is a cocktail period before dinner like at a wedding then any kind of cocktail is fine.

Then there are before dinner aperitifs like sherry or ouzo. There are literally hundreds of different kinds of aperitifs because it's a very common custom all over the world to have them and just about every country has at least one that they call their own.

An aperitif is normally served with something small like olives, cheese, etc and they are never served on the rocks.

At formal dinners, wine is usually drunk with the meal. And if you want to get really formal, if you go to the Riedel website, the number of glasses they have for each individual type of drink is mind boggling.

The traditional after dinner drink is a digestif, also never serves on the rocks...Limoncello is used for this in Italy, but other common digestifs are cognacs, armagnacs, fine whiskeys, fortified wine like port or madeira. Plum wine is served in Japanese restaurants as a digestif.

These are really only used at very formal dinners though. For non-formal dinners, you just have whatever you want.
Reply:I'm a beer man myself... and with all the different varieties I've found that food pairing with it is easy. A nice light malt low ABV beer with appetizers, Something a little heavier or full bodies with the mean... depending on the meal itself of course and then a nice fruity beer paired with dessert... unless it is chocolate and then I'll get a stout of some sort.

As far as etiquette goes... Toss it out the window and reach for what tastes best with the food you are eating... and what tastes best to you.
Reply:I think you can have one or two of any sort of alcoholic beverage with a meal and it is etiquettely appropriate, granted it isnt 10:00AM.

How can I cover mud in my shady yard if grass wont grow, but I still want my kids to be able to play there?
Plant a shade loving grass like red fescue. You will need to know

if the plum trees have caused the soil to become acidic. If so, you will need to apply powdered dolomite lime first, several days

before seeding. Contact your local office of the CoOperative extension Service for more info.

Anyone here have any information, comments about the perposed Bio Research Lab thats moving from plum Island?

It's been a real moving target. For a while, there was a plan to move it here to Colorado. As you'll see at the end, the current "short list" could put it in one of 18 different locations.

Frankly, having it isolated seems to be an entirely GOOD idea considering what the facility does for a living. I fully understand the NIMBY attitudes many areas have taken!

    Various news, in chronological order:

From The Pueblo Chieftan (newspaper, Pueblo, CO) 09/2005:

Last week, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security announced that the Plum Island Animal Disease Center -- which studies the most devastating agricultural diseases on a tiny speck in the Atlantic off Long Island, New York -- will be replaced by a new facility that may be located elsewhere. The state's politicians, who oppose expanding the lab's remit but don't want it to close, immediately blasted the proposal. But some scientists say they would welcome leaving the remote, impractical location.

    From the-Scientist.com 02/2006:

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is scouting places to build a $451 million, 500,000 square feet, high-security biolab to replace the 55-year-old animal disease lab it operates on Plum Island, just off the northern tip of Long Island, New York.

    From animallab.com 11/2006:

The Plum Island National Disease Lab, currently located on Plum Island, N.Y. - 1.5 miles off the Atlantic seaboard - had been slated to relocate to southeastern Colorado. That plan, however, has now been shelved. Ranchers attending the Colorado Cattlemen's Association conference were told that Bent County had been eliminated as a possible site for the lab.

    San Antonio Business Journal, 03/2007:

Now that San Antonio has made the Department of Homeland Security's (DHS) short list of possible sites for a new national laboratory that will focus on biological threats to humans and animals, a local group is gearing up for a site visit by federal officials in May.

    .....

Altogether, the government is considering 18 possible sites, including the three in San Antonio. The other sites under consideration are located in California, Kentucky, Georgia, Kansas, Maryland, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Wisconsin and one more in Texas at Texas A%26amp;M University.

Anyone here have any information, comments about the perposed Bio Research Lab thats moving from plum Island?
I think an island is the perfect place for it. It is not a good idea to put a lab that works with foot and and mouth disease and other foreign animal diseases on the main land.

What are your favorite things to cook in a hotel room?

I'll be traveling with an 6 quart electric kettle that can boil, steam, fry, bake etc...and a small cooler. Don't want to get smelly or messy do want to get creative! Once I made duck with plum sausage and plum sauce in a hotel room using an electric skillet in the bathroom. YUM! Send those ideas!

What are your favorite things to cook in a hotel room?
When I visited Hawaii 2 years ago, I stayed in a hotel kitchette. And since Hawaii has some great local fruits and seafood, I took advantage of that and bought whatever was in season at the local farmer's markets. I ended up making a pan- fry Mahi Mahi with a crust of macadamia nuts one night. I made a Thai inspired coconut peanut soup the next night. I have also made an omelete with the local herbs and veggies I found at the farmer's market the day before.

I also made pancakes with sauted bananas in a rum sauce using the local ingredients as well.

And since you said that you can also bake and will also have a cooler with you, you can make a french toast cassorole the night before your trip and let it sti in your cooler. Then the next morning when you wake up in your hotel room, you can bake it and then let it be ready for breakfast.

You could also make a nice chili or stew for dinner or lunch.

I would recommend that you purchase meat the night before and keep it in your cooler and cook it that day/night you arrive in your hotel (this will also help to cut on cost the first night instead of looking for a local market to purchase the meat... this way you will be able to have time to look for the best and freshest price.)

Good luck and have fun on your trip!

I started growing tomatoes for the first time this year. I have both plum and big boy tomatoes. The plums are ripening, but I notice that there is a hole (like it is rotted out) on the bottom of the ripening plum tomatoes. What can I do to prevent this from happening to all my other tomatoes?

I am growing tomatoes. There is rot on the bottom of the ripening ones. Why is this happening?
My problem was that we had too much rain, I googled my problem and found out there are several things that will cause this. Not enough calcium is one, it suggested crumbling up egg shells and placing in the dirt, I did this and between the rain letting up and the shells, they quit rotting, not sure which helped. Be sure and cut off all the yellow leaves that are on the plant too...they suck up good nutrients that the tomatoes need. Also, pick them before they are totally red.

Reply:This is called black bottom rot, and it is tough to stop. It is more common in container or patio tomatoes. It is due mostly to irregular watering. You can also try to feed the plants a fertilizer/food that contains potash, and regular watering. Good luck.

The mature fruit should be fully-colored instead of green, and firm, but slightly soft, rather than hard; in addition, they may have a VERY slight "bloom" on the skin of a white, powdery substance (this is actually a fungus, but is harmless and normal). The bloom is only able to live if there is adequate sugar present in the fruit, and that only happens when it's ripe!
Reply:Same rules as in the Northern hemisphere. If they look big enough and have changed from that hard green look to the color of the ripe ones you see in the store they are ready (tougher to tell on green gage plums but even those get a little more yellowish when ripe). If they look almost ready you could pick them and let them ripen indoors. If they fell on the ground you waited too long.
Reply:So,just cut off one, bite and if test good, pick all of them!
Reply:usually ready for picking in Jan, Feb, they usually change colour.

If its a white plum they change to a nice golden yellow when ready to pick.

If its a red plum they change to a dark purple colour.

    Or

Trying them they should be ready

    Enjoy....Yum

Whats the best plum tree to plant northcentral pa.zone 4-5.?

Most all plum trees should do fine where you are. I would buy it at your favorite L%26amp;G Center for two reasons. One, they will only sell plum trees that will flourish in your area (most will but they will make sure) and two, you will get a higher quality tree with a provenance for your zone.

Sometimes box stores get them shipped in from other areas and they don't do as well.

Where in New Zealand can I have plums distilled into brandy?

My plumtrees are going to yield such a vast harvest this year that I seriously doubt anyone will eat them all.

I would love to find a distillery on the south island I can cart them off to to have them turned into brandy or slivovic or whatever.

Does anyone know where to find a place like that, or maybe what else to do with those plums?

Buy some wine making equipment and turn them all into Plum Wine.

Then build/purchase your own still and make brandy with some of the wine.

What are the best eyeshadow colours for Hazel eyes?

I have heard gold/copper is a good colour but it looks freakish on me (well, I think so at least!) I have very light skin and medium brown hair. I use a brown or plum coloured eyeliner so any other suggestions would be appreciated! Thanks girls!

What are the best eyeshadow colours for Hazel eyes?
Soft light, shimmery pink, or a mid tone silver would be nice, and perfect for the holidays. Purple will also bring out the green in hazel eyes.
Reply:I would probably use a copper or a brown to bring out the color in your eyes. But of course i have blue eyes! =D
Reply:I have hazel eyes and I use pink to bring out the green and a darker brown to bring out the brown. Purples will emphasize both the green and the brown. Its just about finding the exact shade of those colors that will look the best on you.
Reply:neutrals- beige/tan/browns......plum/mauve- purple range would look great too! since you have light skin, cooler tones (blues/purples/silvers) would look better than warm tones (golds/reds/pinks etc). i

brush the lid with the darker shade...and highlight the brow bone with a lighter shade- light mauve or cream, and dust a bit of shimmer on the inner ducts to make your eyes look wider. put on clear mascara to keep it simple, or for a more glam look....put on brown or dark purple (whatever dark color you're wearing on your lids) eyeliner, and lots of volumizing mascara- i like volume exact by covergirl. you can also line the bottom of your eyes with kohl/pencil eyeliner for an exotic look.
Reply:I have hazelish greenish eyes, I dont really wear a lot of make up but when I do I usually go with light colors like peach, light green, goldish-yellowish and other colors like those.
Reply:before using a eyeshadow, decide what colour you want to bring out in your eyes. because u have hazel eyes brown or green will probably suit you the most. If you want to emphasize the brown use a medium brown, and if you want green to stand out use a shimmery medium green.

be careful with dark eyeshadow on fair skin, because when applied incorrectly it can look like you have 2 bruises on your eyelids.
Reply:i have hazel eyes also, and i use a bronze-y color, kind of a darker brown and do a really light coat

    it looks really good!

and i agree, gold does look freakish... i made the mistake of buying a $22 gold eyeshadow once, and it was awful

    go for the dark bronze!
Reply:That depends if your hazel is more brown or more green.

I have hazel eyes but they are more green than brown. So I use purples, lights greens, sometimes oranges.

For more brown colors - bronzes, gold, brown, beiges, oranges.

Also, using mineral eyeshadow I find makes your eyes really pop.
    Reply:green is good. and purple
