How do you grow a plum tree?

If you want fruit; you'll need at least two so that they can cross-polinate. It's a birds and the bees sort of thing.

How do you grow a plum tree?
Stick a plum stone in the ground.
Reply:Some plums are self-pollinating, like Stanley. Some aren't. Figure out whether you have room for two trees, and then visit your local mom and pop nursery. Know whether you want a yellow, red or purple fruit. Also, whether you want a cling-stone, or a free-stone (or prune) plum. You know how sometimes when you bite into them, the pit just pulls away, and sometimes it doesn't...thats the difference between cling and free-stone...same thing with peaches.

Aside from that...full sun.
