My soil is pure alkaline.

What type of soil do plum trees prefer, thrive? Acidic or Alkaline?
Plums need a well-drained soil and one containing plenty of humus to hold moisture during the growing season. A very acid soil should be limed, but an alkaline soil should not be planted with plums. Plums (and other stone fruits) do need calcium but they will not prosper in an alkaline soil. Plum trees planted in thin soils overlaying chalk often suffer seriously from lime-induced iron deficiency.
Reply:They like it more acid than alkaline - pH 6-6.5 according to page 5 of this document

(I never thought someone would ask a question where I could answer with my name :-D )
Reply:All fruit trees require deep soil having both good surface and internal drainage. Surface drainage refers to runoff to prevent water standing around the tree. Internal drainage is the ability for water to percolate downward through the soil to preclude saturation of the root zone.
Reply:Light: Best in full sun

Moisture: Prefers moist soil

Soil Type: Moist, acidic, well-drained loam but will tolerate slight alkalinity. Thats all you need to know about soil.
Reply:simple answer, alkaline.
