Is there a substitute that can be used for beef suet in my plum pudding recipe?

I don't think that there really is one but you could try Crisco or lard as they are fats too.

You can substitute butter but it won't be the same but it will work.

PS: I have never seen suet in the market BUT I have never asked for it either...

If I'm Right you can use butter or margarine

Reply:Use butter, first refrigerate the butter and grate it. It will then have a similar texture to commercial beef suet

Reply:There is a vegetarian suet - try Health Food shops or a large supermarket.

You could also try asking google for "Vegetable Suet" and see what comes up.
