Can i cut down the plum tree in my garden?

i have this old rotting plum tree in my garden and i want to cut it but i dont know if im allowed to

(i live in england and i just bought the house)

Can i cut down the plum tree in my garden?
The straight answer is YES. The local authority has no control over trees in private gardens. Cut it down before it becomes a hazard.
Reply:if it'd dead,(rotting) i don't see why not, ring your council if you're worried about it, i would just do it, but i live in Australia, we need permits too for some trees, a dead plum tree? nah just cut the mongrel down, horrible lookin things when they are dead, hey.
Reply:I live in the United States and over here if it's dead and on your property you can cut it with no notifications or permits its only if its alive that it matters then you need to gets permits and explain why and have it voted on etc.
Reply:They may have a city ordinance about cutting trees. Lots of places do. If it is diseased or dying document its condition and just call the city to check if you need a permit or something.
Reply:If it`s old and rotting it`s probably got some kind of disease so Yes cut it down it may spread to other tree`s
Reply:kill the silly tree before it gets pregnant has children and then breaks into your house at night and kills you
Reply:its your garden go ahead
Reply:I think u can,if u own the garden.i think....

Why do hotels always use white towels
