In England, finding a thimble in the plum pudding is said to mean what?

I thought it was supposed to be a coin! But the thimble symbolizes "thrift".

It means the host thinks you bat for both sides.
Reply:Finding a thimble means you'll be a spinster (if you're a woman). I think finding a button, if you're a man, means you'll be a bachelor forever. So both are considered bad luck, because you'll never get married.
Reply:I am a former chef and "Blue Orchid" is right coins, thimbles and other small object are used, coins are for prosperity, thmble for thrift, and other symbols long life and good fortune.

I answered a question last week were some one in the Middland want to put farting or schilling in there pudding, a couple of half pennys wrapped in wax paper is fine.
