My plum tree is a dwarf and wasn't supposed to produce fruit either. But, now and again, it does produce tiny little plums which surprisingly don't have pits. I've eaten a couple, one was very sweet and one was very bitter. I've had the tree for 8 years, keep it pruned and it only produced these little plums for the last two seasons. Maybe it is a fluke..
Is there such a thing as a plum less tree? I was told the one in my yard in plum less but it is growing plums.
Yes we have two "sterile" purple leafed plum trees. They bloom in the spring but no fruit forms so there is no mess.
PURPLE FLAME was the last official purpleleaf plum to come from Luther to be dwarf and absolutely fruitless.
Reply:yes. it's called a "mock plum"
