I heard this riddle but I never knew the correct answer...I need to know the correct answer (not a guess) because I told the person I asked "7" but she said no. I'm not sure if she didn't hear me correctly or if the answer's wrong; so if anyone knows the correct answer, please tell me!
Riddle: The Plum family has 6 sisters. Each sister has 1 brother. How many people are in the family?
The answer has to be 7. If you count the parents, just because their last name is Plum, then you would also need to count the father's parents, whose last name is also Plum, then the Grandpa Plum's parents and so on. You would never have an answer. So the answer to the riddle cannot include parents, just siblings and there are 7. That's that!
Reply:i think it's sopposed to go, how many boys were there in total. or something like that.
Reply:I say nine
because there are six sisters and if they each have one brother.
six plus one equals seven then you add the parents
soo
six plus one plus two equals nine.
righttt?
Reply:9 becuz if each sister has one brother than there's only one brother cuz they're all related so. Altogether including parents there are nine family members.
Reply:it can vary depending on how many parents are in the family (it could be 7 if there are no parents, 8 if there is one parent, and 9 if there are two parents).
you should have probably asked the person what the correct answer was after they told you that you were wrong. :-)
6 sisters
EACH sister has 1 brother = 6 X 1 = 6 Brothers
Parents = 2
6 + 6 + 2 = 14
Reply:14 people are in the family
6 sisters + 1 brother for ever sister = 12 siblings
plus the parents makes 14
Reply:I would say 9 there are 6 sisters 1 brother a mom and a dad thats 9 am i right .

the mother and father six girls and six boys would give u a family of twelve
Reply:um 9
Reply:She was probably right, she just didn't know how to count.
Reply:nine.
six sisters, one brother, two parents.
:]
Reply:I agree it would be 7, or 9 if you count the parents. Of course, as a riddle there would be a trick to it, but I don't know what it would be. Sorry, I'm no help.lol
Reply:I think it's 14.
Reply:Hi,
here's a drunken twist.
Lets start with the Plum family mum, who is (hopefully) a female and therefore could be included as someones' sister.
This brings in another player, because we know that each sister has a brother.
In this case, the other five sisters' UNCLE (moms brother) now needs to be included.
The five sisters (moms' daughters) have a brother, and a dad.
So mum, uncle, dad, 5 daughters and a brother to the five daughters equals........NINE peoples !!!....count 'em and weep.
I need (yet another) beer. lol.
.
....assuming it's a nuclear (does not mean radioactive) family.
Reply:Well, I would imagine that there are 7 siblings... but I suppose 9 if you count mom and dad?
Or maybe you'll never know, if you carry on like that... because then you'd have to add grandparents and cousins and great-grandparents and uncles and aunties and the mom's hairdresser's poodle's mom's brother's uncle.
Reply:7 peoples, cuz all 6 sisters have the same brother.
Reply:its nine (1) THE MOM
(1) The dad
(6) sisters
(1) brother
1+1+6+1= 9
Reply:9
Reply:6sisters with 6 brothers 12!and the 2 parents 14 people!
Reply:the answer is one. if they're all sisters and they all have *one* brother , would they not share that brother?
i'm ian. my sister is klaire and my youngest brother is collin.
collin and i each have *one* sister, klaire.
Edit: oops, i misread the question ^_^. yes it is indeed 9. six sisters plus 2 parents - 8 plus *ONE* brother = 9
Reply:14...Mum...dadi....Sis 1...sis 2......sis 3....sis 4....sis 5....and sis 6.....Bro 1 (7th kidd).....bro 2 (8th kidd).....bro 3 (9th kidd).....bro 4 (10th kidd).....bro 5 (11th kidd).....and bro 6 (12th kidd)...so in the end its 14 ppl!!!(~StAr~)
Reply:All in favor of 9 say I
Reply:9 if it's the sisters (6) plus their one brother and both parents. I have not heard this riddle, but it doesn't seem that difficult...
Reply:I would guess 12 because it would depend on whether or not each sister shared a different parent with the brother or the same so it could go either way, 7 or 12. Or even different combinations of 3 sharing a mom and dad while only 2 shared a mom and one shared a dad. You never know and maybe that is the correct answer, who knows!
Reply:The correct answer would have to be 9 no other answer makes sense, I was thinking fourteen(one brother for each sister plus the two parents!!, but then that'd mean that each sister had 6 brothers) So yeah 9 is the right answer!! cause you have to add the two parents!!!
?Jes?
Reply:Well, it depends on how many people the plum family is...
If it is a mother and a father, and the 6 sisters, and 1 brother..
or if there are more...
