Exam stress is self-induced. The source is usually poor preparation which results in low confidence for testing. Therfore, the answer to who invented such stress is YOU.
Reply:The concepts behind the first universities where actually created by the Greeks and Romans with the Academy of Plato being one of the first institute dedicated to learning. However, the first founding and conferring of academic degrees by a university is actually debated by historians with Nalanda, Constantinople, Al Karaouine or Al-Azhar universities among the running. In terms of the modern education system though, it actually began between the 11th and 12th centuries with classes being taught by the clergy for the purpose of advancement within the ecclesiastical hierarchy. [2]



So in essence if you wan to blame someone for modern exams, there is no one person that you can blame. Also, you have to remember that modern exams have evolved much from what they used to be which required the students to recite information to the professor or be drilled by the professor on their knownledge.
