Which washer/dryer is the most cost effective to buy? Conside plum the new one in & taken the old one away? a?

Washer driers are rubbish because they neither wash nor dry as well as seperate ones. It is worth the money to spend more on A rated appliances as they save on energy and a higher was efficency means you can use a little less detergent. Brand names are worht extra- they last longer. Good ones I recommend are LG, Bosch, Hotpoint, Hoover and Whirlpool (Phillips).

I would buy a front loader
Reply:Maytag, period.
Reply:dont bother they are a waste of time buy two seperate machines

that way whilst one load is washing the first load can be drying saving time
Reply:Although the new front-loading washers are more expensive to buy, the are more cost effective in the long run. I bought one and the clothes seem to get cleaner and they come out of the washer with less water in them therefore they take less time (ie energy) in the dryer.

I have Kenmore HE3 washer and dryer. I bought them five years ago and haven't had a single problem with either one of them. A man that has been a serviceman for laundry appliances for 30 years says these machines should last me for the rest of my days. Which in my case is another 30 years or better!

Check out customer reviews online for personal opinions on any brands you are considering. It also may worth your while to check out Consumer Reports to see what their ratings are. You can get copies of their magazine at the local library for free, or online information for a small fee.

My daughter had to buy a compact unit because of space restrictions in her new home. After researching many different brands offering the smaller models, she opted to purchase one from Home Depot. At the time they had 6 months free financing if you used their credit card. They also offered a rebate for the $55 delivery charge. They delivered and installed the machine within 2 days. She didn't have a washer to take out, but they would have hauled it away for a small fee. Some places will give you a phone number for someone to haul it out, it costs about $10-$15, depending on where you live. I know Sears lets you pay for the service when you buy the machine but you call the hauler to make the appt.

Good luck!
