I want to pierce my ears this week but i am afraid to get a keloid or plum?

can i prevent them from coming by cleaning my ears good or they come anyways.....plz help im panicing

Keloid is quite common (and I am assuming that you are black by your avatar, it's very common). On the earlobes, arm and chest, particularly. It is caused by response to trauma.



There was a large one that had to be excised as steroid injections did not shrink it. They do grow back.



If it runs in you family, I would avoid it.
Reply:Unless you are prone to getting keloid scars, it's not common to get them from pierced ears. You need to keep the piercings clean anyway to prevent infection, but that has nothing to do with keloid scars. If you keep the studs in your ears, then they shouldn't develop scars.



If you already get keloids with all other cuts and wounds, then there may be a possibility and I don't think you can prevent it. Some people, especially African-Americans, are just prone to them.
Reply:i have pierced many ears,etc. i have never seen a keloid,or a plum. just go where they use a gun,it's fast,and doesn't hurt much/ then ____keep it clean ! chill out babies get their ears pierced,most don't even cry.
