What are plum tomatoes and cherry tomatoes?

Why are they called that?

What are plum tomatoes and cherry tomatoes?
A plum tomato is oval in shape, like a plum. A cherry tomato is small, like a large cherry or grape.

I find both to be of better taste than most "regular" sized tomatoes, and much easier to put into a salad!
Reply:Plum tomatoes are Roma tomatoes, called that because of their shape. Cherry tomatoes are those little round ones, called that because of their shape and colour.
Reply:I think it refers to their size and sweetness. A cherry tomato is small, a little bit larger than a large grape and sweet. I think plum tomato refers to the same thing.
Reply:Think of your average round, normal, red tomato. That's a tomato. http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en...

Cherry tomatoes are the same, but they only grow to about the size of a black cherry.

Plum tomatoes are also red tomatoes but they grow slightly smaller (between a normal tomato and a cherry tomato) and they're not round, but more oval shaped, like some plums.
